Executive Vice President and General Manager of Japan Camera Centre Limited. John along with his brothers Roy and Kenji founded Japan Camera in June of 1959 as A.S.A. Camera in downtown Toronto. Incorporated as Japan Camera Centre Limited in 1962. In 1963 the brothers established Ricoh of Canada as the exclusive distributors of Ricoh products in Canada. In 1978, the Company introduced North America’s first on-site One Hour Photofinishing service, which had literally revolutionized the retail photofinishing business. The company began franchising the concept in 1980 and currently has 23 corporate and 91 franchise camera store/one-hour locations operating in all ten provinces in Canada.
John was very active in Photo Marketing Association International, trade organization, and had served, as its International president in 1995-96. In 1999 John was inducted into PMAI’s Hall of Fame, the highest honor of the association. John had also served as a board of director of Applied Science Fiction Inc. of Austin Texas.
